Equine Reproduction and Neonatology Conference concludes

Doha: The Equine Reproduction and Neonatology Conference 2019 co-hosted by the Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC), member of Qatar Foundation (QF), in association with Al Galayel Equine Centre, has concluded successfully.

Held from April 19-21, the conference comprised lectures, roundtable discussions, and practical (wet-lab) sessions by internationally-renowned veterinarians. It was held at the Qatar National Conference Center and EVMC’s state-of-the-art facility located in Al Shaqab, and was attended by equine specialists and horse owners.

Speakers addressed a wide range of equine reproduction-related issues, ranging from the pitfalls of breeding the sub-fertile individual through to the optimization of embryo performance, and the identification of high-risk pregnancy profiles in advanced gestation. A neonatology section was also featured. The complementing wet-lab session held at EVMC on the final day included sessions on embryo transfer, ultrasonography of the high-risk pregnancy, and neonatology. Keynote speakers at the conference included Dr Mats Troedsson, Professor, Maxwell H. Gluck, Equine Research Center, University of Kentucky, United States; Dr Jessica Johnson, Acting Director of EVMC and Specialist in Equine Surgery, EVMC, Qatar; Dr Stefania Bucca, Specialist in Reproduction, EVMC, Qatar; Dr Florent David, Specialist in Equine Surgery, EVMC, Qatar; Dr Benjamin Uberti, Assistant Professor, Institute of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Universidad Austral de Chile; Dr Luis Losinno, Professor, Equine Production Laboratory, Department of Animal Sciences, Agronomy & Veterinary Faculty, Rio Cuarto National University, Argentina. Roundtable discussions were moderated by leading veterinarians of EVMC.
